There are days as artists when we feel stuck—creatively, emotionally, physically. Maybe the world doesn’t “get” what we’re trying to say. Maybe we’re overwhelmed by bills, routines, or self-doubt. Maybe our bodies are tired, or our minds are heavy. On those days, it’s easy to feel like we’ve lost our spark; But then there’s this quote by Frida Kahlo: “Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?”
Frida wasn’t just a painter—she was a survivor, a rebel, a storyteller. After a bus accident left her in pain for most of her life, she still created. Her body was limited, but her art was limitless. That line she wrote isn’t just poetic—it’s powerful. It’s a reminder that no matter what we’re going through, we still have the ability to rise. To express. To dream beyond the walls we see.
As artists, our “wings” are the gifts we’ve been given:
The way we see beauty in small things
The way we turn pain into paintings, movement, visuals, and more
The way we give life to words, movement, color, and sound
So when life feels heavy, remember: you weren’t made to stay stuck. You weren’t made to only survive—you were made to soar. Your creativity is your freedom. Your art is your flight.
Let this quote remind you that your power doesn’t come from how grounded you are—it comes from how brave you are to keep creating, even when the ground beneath you shakes.
Don’t be afraid to use your wings. The world needs what you see. The world needs what only you can make.
